Adam Matthew Digital Takes Part in Second Jisc Group Purchasing Scheme Supporting Greater Access to Digital Primary Sources
A NEW SELECTION OF DIGITAL PRIMARY SOURCES ARE NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH A SECOND GROUP PURCHASING SCHEME TO ENHANCE UK TEACHING AND RESEARCH
(Marlborough, UK – November 2017) UK Higher Education institutions are now able to benefit from a second group purchasing initiative with Jisc which sees multiple Adam Matthew Digital research and teaching collections made available to purchase at an exceptional discount level.
After great success of an initial group purchasing pilot run between March and July 2017, Jisc has partnered for a second time to support Higher Education institutions with a coordinated approach to acquiring digital primary source collections. This second group purchasing scheme continues to support budget constraints by leveraging institutions’ collective purchasing power.
"Our member institutions have reacted positively to the first phase of the group-purchasing pilot which achieved a collective discount of 25% on digital archival collections. We’re delighted to extend the pilot and offer libraries a much wider choice of collections of primary source material to enable innovative scholarship and, increasingly, the more engaging research led teaching that is taking place in many universities.”
PAOLA MARCHIONNI, HEAD OF DIGITAL RESOURCES FOR TEACHING, LEARNING AND RESEARCH AT JISC
Adam Matthew Digital is delighted to support the scheme for a second time, with the aim to inspire students and enable teaching through the digitisation of unique primary sources.
The UK academic community can select from fourteen different Adam Matthew Digital collections, including titles such as Victorian Popular Culture, Foreign Office Files for the Middle East, 1971-1981, and China: Trade, Politics and Culture 1793-1980. Covering an array of subject areas, the titles support teaching and research across politics and international relations, Victorian studies and China studies.
Between November to July 2018 university libraries will be able to purchase any of these collections through the Jisc Collections website, with the principle of “the more products bought collectively, the greater the saving”.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Jisc for a second time on the digital archival collections initiative after the success of the initial group purchasing pilot. This partnership provides universities the opportunity to offer access to a vast new selection of unique primary source content to their students, librarians and faculty.”
