Adam Matthew Digital holds first Digital Primary Sources Day at University of Leeds
Adam Matthew Digital was delighted to hold the first Digital Primary Sources Day, kindly hosted within the Brotherton Library at the University of Leeds. The first of its kind, the aim of our Digital Primary Sources Day was to create a forum for discussion of primary sources and their use in teaching and research.
Guest speakers and library and archival delegates from across the UK joined us for an engaging day of presentations, interactive workshops and networking focusing on curation, digitisation and engagement with primary sources in the library and classroom.
Presentations included Using primary sources in teaching: collaborations between faculty and library by Manchester Metropolitan University’s Senior Assistant Librarian, Nicola Ward, and Senior Lecturer, Marcus Morris, as well as Creating digital primary source collections by Judith Siefring, Head of Digital Research, Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford.
Suitably situated adjacent to the Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery, delegates were also treated to a behind-the-scenes and hands-on look at Special Collections held at the Library, including rare historical cook books (digitised within our Food and Drink in History collection) and letters of correspondence from the First World War (digitised within our First World War Portal collection).
