Goldey-Beacom College to publish over 150 years of history on Quartex

Adam Matthew Digital has today announced that Goldey-Beacom College has chosen the publisher’s Quartex platform to increase discoverability of the institution’s archival material.

Content within the historical archives of Goldey-Beacom dates back to 1886 and includes a wealth of institutional history. Of particular interest is the content relating to the college baseball team; the sport was played at the college as early as 1922, including an undefeated season for the team in 1935, but was disbanded in the 1950s and later reinstated in 2017. Students, alumni, and sporting history researchers alike will enjoy browsing this archival material.

Holding somewhere in the region of 400,000 items, including yearbooks, catalogues, and photographs of staff and students, the College’s archive is currently hosted on a platform without strong search functionality which makes locating content extremely challenging.

We’re proud of the archival content we hold relating to the history of Goldey-Beacom and in particular the content relating to our baseball team and student marketing materials from the 1920s onwards. It’s a real treasure-trove of local history dating back over 150 years. We’re excited to bring this archive to a platform that makes the content easily discoverable and hope our alumni, student, faculty, and researchers enjoy exploring this fascinating material.”

Russell Michalak, Director of the Library, Archives & Learning Center, and Assistant Professor, at Goldey-Beacom College
