I have been privileged to work in the Canadian education space since 2004, with roles spanning market research, product management, publishing, technology, and sales in both K-12 and Higher Education. My first publishing job involved driving around northern Alberta in a minivan full of math textbooks with my 2 year old daughter strapped in the back, and most recently I launched and implemented learning management systems for Canadian school districts and universities. Meanwhile, that same daughter now pursues a History Major at University in Quebec.
Some children dream of winning the Stanley Cup, but my dream was to see my name in print – in a textbook! I realized this dream in 2007 developing new curriculum resources for Law and Social Studies in British Columbia. I am passionate about advances in technology that enhance teaching and learning, and the potential for today’s students and educators to access rich resources and archives that spark curiosity, encourage discovery, and promote critical thinking. I am inspired to share Adam Matthew’s vast and varied catalogue of primary source collections, and Quartex’s powerful archive platform with Canadian education communities.
I live and play on the unceded territory of the Ktunaxa, the Syilx, and the Sinixt Peoples in British Columbia’s beautiful Interior. My outdoor obsessions include open water swimming, skiing of all kinds, and cycle touring, and I can usually be found charting a course for a lake crossing, plotting a backcountry descent, or pedaling my panniers up and down mountain passes. An English Major through and through, I do all of these things carrying at least 3 paperbacks.
